An exploration of the astrological mandala, with a focus on the dynamics displayed by the twelve signs of the zodiac. The workshop will be strongly experiential, presented through a variety of media and techniques, including Art, Music, Film, Myth and Storytelling to enable a direct experience of the uniqueness of each sign of the zodiac. Frith Luton holds a Masters in Analytical Psychology, and is currently completing her training as a Jungian Analyst in Zurich. Rainer Rollfink has a strong interest in understanding people and relationships through the insights offered by astrology.
In this workshop Keith will discuss and illustrate clinical practice within the framework outlined in his recent book: Person-Centred Therapy: A Clinical Philosophy. Key principles underlying the approach include:
Three counsellors with three different backgrounds using a variety of approaches will, in turn counsel one voluntary client. Participating Counsellors Judith Ayre is a counsellor and psychotherapist who works holistically within a Transpersonal and soul-centred framework. George Wills teaches in the LaTrobe Masters and Doctoral programs in Counselling Psychology and in Professional Counselling. Joy Norton works as an analytical psychologist, and trained with the Australian and New Zealand Society of Jungian Analysts.
The music therapy day will explore the use of sound in psychotherapy and personal development. Participants will be invited to discuss, write, draw, listen, move, theorise, vocalise and play with sounds of many varieties. All activities will be linked to practical applications within psychotherapeutic processes. Stephen Andrew is a musician, educator, psychologist and counsellor. His counselling practice has a humanistic/existential orientation working with the general community as well as those struggling with issues around problem gambling.
Since we know that personality in large measure is socially acquired we can legitimately argue that it may be modified more readily in a social context. In group counselling, the emphasis is not just on the communication between client and counsellor; communication between all the group members is regarded as equally important therapeutically. There are a number of different approaches to group counselling. This workshop will operate within the person-centred framework on the working hypothesis that the therapeutic conditions – empathy, UPR, congruence- will provide the ‘necessary and sufficient’ environment for personal growth. Bernie Neville is an Associate Professor of Education at La Trobe University, Melbourne. He has worked at all levels of education for many years. He has a particular interest in teacher education and professional development.
An experiential workshop designed to develop skills in observing the emotional and psychological patterns in body posture and movement. The workshop will be useful for both practitioners and students. Chris Caldwell has been a practising psychologist, counsellor and deep tissue body work practitioner for the last 20 years.
